《葛氏肘后方》∶与朱蜜，后与牛黄，益肝胆除热，定惊辟恶气，与之如朱蜜多少。
《千金方》∶与朱蜜竟，与牛黄不独益肝胆除热，定精神止惊辟恶气，又除小儿百病。
张涣牛黄法∶
上以真牛黄一块许，用好蜜炼熟和成膏。每服一豆大，乳汁化，时时滴口中。形色不实者，不宜多服。若婴儿胎热，或身体黄色，宜多服之。
